Curious onlookers, interested admirers, and sometimes, even longtime clients will ask, “What style is that?”. I often can’t give a firm answer. As a Residential Architect, when I am working on a master planning project or designing a custom home, I am influenced by several different styles ranging from mid-century modern to old-world European. In addition to my broad influences, I didn’t take the traditional education path. It’s not what I would recommend to anyone starting in the design field. However, in some ways, I feel my lack of a traditional architectural training frees me from the constraints of defined styles. A prime example of this is a spec home currently under construction by one of our premier clients, Winfrey Design Build. “What style is that?” It’s my style, Design DCA style. Design matters. It’s functional, it looks great and….it’s SOLD!
